A UN Security Council meeting was held on July 27 to discuss the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. According to Kayoko Goto, Director of the Department for Europe and Central Asia at the United Nations, the number of civilians killed or wounded in Ukraine has significantly increased since the previous security council meeting on July 9.

She stated that over 170 civilians were killed and 1,028 people were wounded due to Russian airstrikes. In Kyiv alone, at least 56 residents were killed and 232 were wounded as a result of eight Russian airstrikes in July.

The UN also reported that Russia's shelling of Ukrainian ports and ships has disrupted shipping in the Black Sea, leading to higher wheat prices, which have risen by 20% since the beginning of July. This could lead to increased costs for freight, insurance, food, and energy, particularly affecting developing countries.

US Ambassador to the UN Dan Negrea called on Russia and Ukraine to return to negotiations, stating that 'there is no military solution to this war.' He emphasized that too much blood has been shed, and the world is paying a high price due to this conflict.
