Unhedged Regis Resources Posts Record Profit Amid Rising Gold Prices
Regis Resources (ASX: RRL), an Australian gold miner and member of the S&P/ASX 200 materials sector, delivered a record profit in its FY2026 result. The company produced 379,050 ounces of gold at an all-in sustaining cost of A$2,945 an ounce.
The technical factors that shape Regis's production and profitability are the grade of the ore and the recovery rate. Higher-grade ore contains more gold per tonne, making it far more valuable and cheaper to produce. The recovery rate is also crucial as it determines how much gold in the ore ends up as saleable metal.
Regis operated unhedged in FY2026, meaning it sold its gold at prevailing market prices rather than locking in prices through hedging contracts. This exposure to the gold price contributed to its record profit and cash generation.
