Unidentified Projectiles Strike Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz has become a hotspot in the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance. Two oil tankers were struck by unidentified projectiles on Friday, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency.
The first attack occurred as one tanker was exiting the strait, causing a small fire and blackout onboard. However, the crew was able to extinguish the flames and resume their journey without any reported casualties or environmental damage.
A second crude oil tanker later reported being struck by an unknown projectile east of Oman. Fortunately, all crew members were safe, and no environmental damage was reported in this incident either.
The UKMTO agency is investigating both incidents, as the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical waterway for global oil supplies, with nearly a fifth of the world's oil passing through it before the recent conflict escalated.
