Uniper, Equinor Ink 15-Year Gas Deal to Secure German Supplies
German energy company Uniper and Norway's Equinor have signed a long-term gas supply deal for Germany. The agreement, which will last for 15 years from 2027 to 2041, involves Equinor delivering more than 30 terawatt-hours of natural gas annually to Uniper.
The partnership aims to strengthen the long-term supply of the German market and diversify Uniper's portfolio. According to Michael Lewis, CEO of Uniper, this deal will help secure reliable gas supplies for customers in Germany. He also highlighted the potential for cooperation on lower-emission gas solutions.
Equinor CEO Anders Opedal noted that the agreement reflects continued strong demand for reliable, long-term gas supplies from the Norwegian continental shelf. Equinor is one of Europe's leading natural gas suppliers and provides a direct link between Norway's gas resources and the European energy market.
