Uniper and Ksi Lisims LNG have signed a long-term LNG supply agreement, marking the first major such deal between Canada and Germany. The pact will see Uniper purchase approximately 2 million tonnes of LNG per year for up to 20 years, with deliveries expected to start in 2032.

The agreement is a significant step in strengthening the strategic energy partnership between the two countries, providing a reliable source of low-carbon energy for Europe. According to Michael Lewis, CEO of Uniper, 'this agreement is about far more than LNG' and will help diversify Europe's energy supply and increase resilience against future disruptions.

The project combines security of supply with low-carbon hydropower infrastructure and a strong partnership with the Nisga'a Nation. Davis Thames, President and CEO of Western LNG, noted that 'Canada is naturally endowed with a world-class natural gas resource' and that Ksi Lisims LNG will be one of the lowest-emissions sources of LNG in the world.
