Unusual Heat Signatures Detected Over Saudi Arabia’s Ghawar Oil Field
Satellite images have reportedly captured unusual heat signatures above Saudi Arabia’s Ghawar oil field, the world’s largest onshore oil field, according to a report by Fars. The developments come amid a series of recent attacks on Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructure.
On October 5, Yemeni Houthis launched missiles targeting Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura refinery, which has a capacity of 550,000 barrels per day (BPD). The attack followed reports of a massive explosion at an oil refinery in Jeddah earlier the same day.
The East-West oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia reportedly halted operations after another attack, with sources citing significant damage. The pipeline’s disruption contributed to a 1.7% rise in Brent crude prices following the news.
Yemeni forces also announced the launch of Operation “Dawn of Yemen,” a large-scale effort to target Houthi capabilities, as reported by Al Arabiya. These escalations have led to a 1.8% increase in WTI crude prices.
