US Ag Market Falters After Trump-Xi Meeting Disappoints
The US ag market remains in the red after failed expectations for new agricultural purchases by China following the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump.
Soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed slightly lower, unable to capitalize on rising crude oil prices. The USDA's export sales report for the week ending September 17 showed soybean exports at 582,400 tonnes, far below trade estimates of 1.5 million to two million tonnes.
The report also revealed disappointing US soymeal and soyoil export sales figures. However, a private sale for 120,000 tonnes of 2026-27 soybeans to China was announced by the USDA.
