US and Iran Hold Separate Talks as War Enters Seventh Month
US and Iranian officials separately spoke with mediators on Monday in an effort to end seven months of war.
The conflict, which began in late February, has seen thousands killed and global markets shaken as vital waterways for oil remained choked.
The US and Iran have previously agreed to ceasefires twice, in April and June, but those agreements quickly unraveled.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the country expected a response from the US on its latest ceasefire proposals.
The seven-day plan put forward by Iran includes an end to all hostilities, the unfreezing of billions of dollars in Iranian assets, and the lifting of US sanctions on Iranian oil.
