The US and Saudi Arabia have launched joint airstrikes against what they describe as Iran-backed militias in eastern Iraq, targeting positions across multiple areas.

The operation was carried out in response to more than 30 drone attacks that targeted oil facilities in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and Riyadh over the previous 72 hours, according to CENTCOM.

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense confirmed its participation in the strikes, stating that precision strikes were conducted against targets linked to the drone attacks.

The ministry emphasized that Saudi Arabia does not seek escalation but would respond to any attacks against its territory.
