The US and Saudi Arabia launched strikes against militias in Iraq on Wednesday, targeting groups backed by Iran. The move comes after Saudi oil facilities were attacked by drones last week.

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense said that its air defenses destroyed several drones targeting oil facilities in the Eastern Province. According to Major General Turki Al-Malki, these attacks were launched again from Iraqi territory and carried out by Iranian-backed terrorist militias.

The US Central Command and Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry announced that they hit multiple sites across eastern Iraq that had been used by Iran to direct drone attacks. They said the strikes were in response to the drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities, which they claimed were an attempt to disrupt global energy supplies.
