US Considers Military Escalation Against Iran Amid Rising Tensions
The United States is reportedly considering significant military actions against Iran following the November midterm elections, according to a recent report by China Daily. Senior White House officials reportedly held a secret security meeting at Camp David to discuss potential strategies, though the White House declined to comment on the matter. Former President Trump hinted at undisclosed military moves, stating that Iran has been 'decimated' but refusing to reveal specific plans.
Meanwhile, Iran has vowed severe retaliation for any new confrontation. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened a more lethal response than its 2024 Operation True Promise II. The IRGC navy reportedly targeted seven oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz over the past five days, with two vessels exploding after turning off their tracking systems. Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until seven conditions outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum are met.
The conflict has also escalated in Yemen, where government forces conducted 97 strikes against Houthi positions nationwide. The Houthis claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile and drone attack on Saudi energy giant Aramco's facilities in Riyadh and Khurais, causing large fires. Saudi warplanes reportedly launched airstrikes on Sanaa, marking the first bombardment of the Yemeni capital since July.
