US Corn Forecast Drops to Second-Largest on Record Amid Drought
The US Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service recently revised its forecast for corn production in 2026/27, projecting a decrease of 1% from the previous month's estimate to 15.8 billion bushels.
This would still make it the second-largest corn crop on record, but the reduced yield and harvested area forecasts are cause for concern.
The Plains States, particularly Nebraska, North Dakota, and Kansas, saw significant declines in their production forecasts due to drought and extreme heat during critical growth periods.
