US Corn Futures Down Amid Slow Planting Progress
Corn futures were down at midday on Tuesday, losing between 2 to 3 cents per contract. The national average Cash Corn price was also down, by 3 cents, settling at $4.95 3/4.
Monday's Crop Progress report showed that 58% of the US corn crop was mature as of September 20, with harvest progress ahead of schedule at 13%. Condition ratings were up from last week, with 57% of corn in good to excellent condition according to the Brugler500 index.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange estimated the 2026/27 Argentina corn crop at 66 MMT, slightly above last year's 64 MMT. However, planting progress was slow, with only 11.1% of the crop planted as of now.
