US Crude Oil Output Surges Amid Declining Petroleum Demand
US crude oil production rose in July to its highest level this year, reaching 13.95 million barrels per day (bpd), according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marks a slight increase from June's output of 13.84 million bpd.
The EIA also reported that petroleum demand fell to 20.61 million bpd in July, down from 20.74 million bpd in June. The all-time monthly high for crude oil demand was set in August 2005 at 21.67 million bpd.
In related news, US natural gas production reached a new record high of 137.0 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in July, surpassing the previous record of 136.0 bcfd set in December 2025.
The EIA's data shows that top gas-producing states saw varying results: Texas output rose by about 3% to a monthly record of 40.1 bcfd in July, while Pennsylvania's production fell by around 1% to 20.9 bcfd.
