US Crude Oil Production to Hit Record 13.8 Million b/d in 2026
According to the US Energy Information Administration's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, US crude oil production is expected to reach a record 13.8 million barrels per day in 2026.
This projection represents an increase of 2% from the same period last year and exceeds the prior high of 13.7 million b/d recorded in 2025.
The growth is concentrated mainly in the Permian Basin, spanning Texas and New Mexico, where production is expected to average 6.8 million b/d this year, a 3% rise from 2025.
