US DDG Prices Rise Amid Stronger Demand
The average price of distillers dried grains (DDG) in the US was $185 per short ton for the week ending September 17, a $4 increase from the previous week.
A merchandiser told DTN that demand is picking up. DDG prices were mixed but higher on average again, while cash corn prices were lower compared to the previous week.
The value of DDG relative to corn was 0.98% for the week ending September 17, and its value relative to soybean meal was 49.82%. The cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.85, while it was $7.82 for soybean meal.
The Energy Information Administration reported that overall ethanol production in the US averaged 1.099 million bpd in the week ending September 11, unchanged from last week and 44,000 bpd higher than in the same week last year.
