US Denies Iran Struck Unmanned Ship in Strait of Hormuz

Capt. Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command, made this statement after Iran's state-run media reported that a US vessel had entered a restricted area in the strait.

This comes after a day of escalated tensions between the two countries, with the US striking three Iranian oil tankers in response to Tehran launching ballistic missiles at US warships.

Iran has announced plans to establish an 'exclusion zone' outside the Strait of Hormuz, which will restrict vessels that attempt to transit the waterway. The new zone is expected to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
