US Deploys Patriot Batteries to Shield Saudi Oil, Qatar Gas Facilities Amid Iran Tensions
The US has deployed two additional Patriot air defense batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar as part of its preparations for potential renewed military action against Iran.
The deployments aim to strengthen protection around critical energy infrastructure, particularly oil and gas facilities, following concerns raised by Gulf governments that Iranian forces may retaliate against these targets if the US resumes major strikes.
According to an Axios report, one Patriot battery has been sent to Saudi Arabia to defend a key oil facility, while another has been positioned in Qatar near a significant gas installation.
