US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Carriers in Retaliation for Warship Attacks
The United States has taken drastic action against Iranian oil tankers in response to attacks on its warships. In a statement shared on social media platform X, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island.
The attacked vessels were M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Riesco, which were part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network funding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its regional proxies, according to CENTCOM. The fifth carrier, M/T Derya, was also struck.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Iran that for every attempted attack on US warships, they would lose tankers. 'Iran continues to try to hit US naval ships, and for every time they do that or try to do that, they're going to lose tankers,' Rubio said.
