US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Missile Threats
The United States military has confirmed that it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack a U.S. warship with ballistic missiles.
According to CENTCOM, over the past two days, Iranian forces twice attempted to launch missile strikes against the U.S. Navy ship, but it successfully evaded both attacks without any American service members being injured.
The U.S. military struck the tankers in retaliation for these attempts, and Iranian state media reported that another tanker was attacked near the port of Jask in the Gulf of Oman.
The IRGC has threatened to strike back at other tankers in ports such as Kuwait and Bahrain, warning their crews to evacuate the area.
