US Diesel Fuel Prices Hit Record High Amid Global Disruptions

The national average price of diesel fuel in the US has reached an all-time high of $6.51 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). This surpasses previous highs set during the energy crisis of 2022.

The surge in prices is attributed to disruptions in oil production, transportation, and refining capacity caused by conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. The war between the US and Iran has also had a significant impact on global fuel markets.

The price increase will likely feed into broader consumer inflation through higher transportation and production costs. Regular gasoline prices are also up significantly, standing at $4.48 per gallon compared to $3.19 a year ago.
