US Diesel Price Reaches Record High Amid Iran War Disruptions
The US diesel price has reached a new record high, reaching $5.85 per gallon, up from $3.71 just a year ago, according to the AAA motorists' association.
This increase is largely due to disruptions caused by the US war with Iran, which have squeezed voters and made them feel the pinch of persistent inflation.
North Carolina-based farmer Derrick Austin estimates that higher diesel costs could add $15,000 to his fall harvest of soybeans and corn, a significant blow to farmers who are already facing surging fertilizer prices due to the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz.
Austin believes that economic issues alone may not be enough to push voters away from President Donald Trump's administration, despite growing frustration among farmers.
