US Dominates Global Oil Production with Record 13 Million Barrels Per Day
The United States has taken the top spot as the world's largest crude oil producer in 2025, producing 13.58 million barrels per day (mb/d), according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. This puts it comfortably ahead of Russia at 9.87 mb/d and Saudi Arabia at 9.51 mb/d.
The top three countries alone account for nearly 40% of global crude oil production in 2025, with the U.S., Russia, and Saudi Arabia producing a combined total of 39%. Canada ranks fourth at 4.94 million barrels per day, followed by Iraq (4.39) and China (4.34), highlighting the significant concentration of oil production in just a few countries.
The Middle East remains the largest regional bloc, with countries from the region producing 32% of the world's crude oil in 2025. The war in Iran has led to disruption in crude oil production and trade, causing uncertainty across key energy routes.
