A US-led campaign to strangle Iran's economy through oil exports blockades and sanctions evasion is taking its toll, according to three senior Iranian sources. The economic pressure is piling up as Iran's clerical rulers struggle to bypass new measures that target countries doing business with Tehran.

The blockade has cut off Iran's main source of revenue, while the war-torn country already faced a deep economic crisis before the conflict. The economy was battered by inflation, currency collapse, and a massive bill to rebuild damaged infrastructure.

A senior Iranian official noted that Iran hopes the threat of inflation will deter the US administration before midterm elections in November. Meanwhile, Washington aims to push Iranians to revolt.
