US Embassy Warns Americans of Threats in Saudi Arabia Amid Iran-Backed Attacks
The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Americans considering trips to Saudi Arabia, warning of threats from Iranian drone and missile strikes targeting US assets.
According to the embassy, terrorism is a concern in Saudi Arabia, with attacks occurring with little or no warning, often involving knives, firearms, and vehicles.
The Houthis, Yemen's Houthi rebels backed by Iran, have renewed threats to attack Saudi Arabia, prompting officials to advise U.S. government employees to avoid non-essential travel within 20 miles of the border with Yemen and the Persian Gulf city of Al Qatif.
Last Friday, the Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline, a vital pipeline that has been shut down for repairs, which could take 3-5 weeks. The attack has led to a significant increase in oil prices, with Brent crude settling at $105.49 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rising to $102.05.
