US Central Command 'Centcom' Commander Admiral Brad Cooper confirmed that over one billion barrels of crude oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past two months. This is despite Iran's efforts to export oil, which has been blocked by US measures.

Cooper stated that more than 2,000 commercial ships have used the strait during this period, and that thousands of ships continue to use the waterway. He noted that US forces are working with their partners to increase shipping traffic through the strait, with the highest volume of oil and goods transported in the past two weeks compared to the previous six months.

The Centcom commander emphasized that Iran has been unable to export a single barrel of oil under US measures. The US has imposed restrictions on Iranian ports and ship movements since July 13, aiming to deprive Tehran of oil sales which represent its main source of hard currency.

Cooper also confirmed that the US is working with allies in the region to strengthen their air defenses, including forming a new joint unit to counter offensive drones.
