The latest U.S. export sales report has added to market pessimism as the agriculture industry waits for updates on the U.S.-China trade meeting.

Allendale commodity broker Greg McBride pointed out that corn exports are lagging behind pace in the new marketing year, which is a disappointment given high expectations from the USDA.

McBride noted that soybean sales have been particularly underwhelming, but he remains optimistic about their prospects due to their strong start this season.

The situation with corn exports could still improve, according to McBride, who emphasized that these numbers are just one disappointing week in what has otherwise been a successful beginning to the new marketing year.
