US Gas Prices Hit $4.10 as Crude Oil Costs Soar
The national average price for gasoline in the US has reached $4.10 per gallon, up 4 cents from last Monday. This increase is largely driven by high crude oil prices, which are trading between $85 and $95 per barrel amid instability in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand is slightly down this time of year, but total domestic supply and production have increased. Diesel prices have also risen, with a national average of $5.61 per gallon, up 16 cents from last week.
The New York state average for gas is $4.16, up 3 cents from last Monday, while the Buffalo area has seen an average price of $4.21 per gallon, unchanged from last week. The state's 20,827 public EV charging stations have a national average electricity rate of 42 cents per kilowatt-hour.
