US Gas Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Ongoing Global Conflicts
Gas prices have increased across the country, with all but seven states seeing higher prices at the pumps. The national average for regular gasoline has risen to $4.10 per gallon, a three-cent increase from last week. In Oregon, the average price is $4.77 per gallon, up six cents from the previous week.
The elevated crude oil prices due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries continue to put upward pressure on pump prices. According to Marie Dodds, public affairs director for AAA Oregon/Idaho, 'As uncertainty in global energy markets continues, drivers can expect pump prices to remain elevated for this time of year.'
The national average is at its highest price ever for this time of year, surpassing the previous high reached in 2022. The Oregon average is also at its second-highest price ever for this time of year.
