US Gas Prices Surge 29% Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict
US gasoline prices have surged by 29% year-over-year to around $4.08 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association.
The Iran conflict continues to disrupt energy markets, with no progress towards peace talks or oil tanker traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the strait will be opened and closed under Iranian command, and as long as the US does not accept defeat, Iran will continue to enforce the blockade.
President Donald Trump urged Americans to accept slightly higher gasoline prices while the conflict continues, saying it's worth ensuring a 'very evil country' cannot have a nuclear weapon.
The average US price of a gallon of gasoline has sparked inflation and disappointed voters, with Democrats seeking to make the war's fallout an issue in November congressional elections.
