The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to an attack on two US Navy warships by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The strikes occurred after the IRGC launched missiles at the US vessels, but they were avoided due to their swift evasive maneuvers.

No US personnel were injured in the incident. CENTCOM reported that two of the Iranian oil tankers were 'permanently disabled' while a third vessel, which was carrying no cargo, was destroyed.

The CENTCOM chief, Admiral Brad Cooper, warned Iran that if it continues to attack US ships, the US will impose an even higher economic cost by targeting more of its oil fleet. He specifically stated, 'If you shoot at two of our ships, we will take out three of yours.'
