US pressure on Iran has increased amid ongoing negotiations between delegations of the two countries. According to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Washington considers US President Donald Trump's position in the negotiations advantageous.

The administration is increasing pressure on Tehran through the Treasury Department's Economic Outcast campaign and actions by the US military to block Iranian oil shipments.

Pigott stated that the US seeks to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He also mentioned that the US military has largely restored shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with current volumes standing at approximately 60-70% of pre-war levels.
