US-Iran Conflict Drives Up Oil Prices, India Keeps Fuel Rates Steady

This decision comes despite the resumption of military exchanges between the United States and Iran after a weeks-long pause.
Brent crude futures closed at their highest level since July 24, but Indian consumers are not feeling the pinch yet due to the dynamic fuel price method used by the government. Under this system, petrol and diesel prices are revised daily at 6:00 AM, but remain steady even after marginal changes.
Oil tankers and vessels are struggling to navigate through the Gulf Strait due to the Iranian closure of the Strait of Hormuz chokepoint and US naval blockade of Iranian ports. The conflict has driven global supply concerns, with Brent crude futures rising 7.6% in the seventh month of tensions between the two nations.
As a result, Indian automobile consumers are shifting towards cleaner-fuel vehicles such as CNG, hybrid, and electric vehicles. According to a report by Equirus Securities, passenger vehicle retail sales grew 16% year-over-year in August, with cleaner-fuel vehicles accounting for 42% of passenger vehicle sales.
