US-Iran Diplomacy Gains Fresh Momentum with Revised Peace Proposal
US and Iranian officials are engaging in fresh diplomatic efforts to end the seven-month conflict that has killed thousands of people and disrupted global energy markets.
The latest contacts centre on a revised version of a seven-day proposal put forward by Tehran last week, which includes an end to all hostilities, the unfreezing of billions of dollars' worth of Iranian assets, and the lifting of US sanctions on Iranian oil.
US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that his officials had spoken with mediators on Monday, but he did not give further details.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran expected to receive a US response to its latest ceasefire proposals and its conditions for restoring passage of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
