US, Iran Pursue Separate Talks with Mediators Amid Ongoing War

U.S. and Iranian officials have held separate talks with mediators in an effort to end seven months of war, which began in late February with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

Iran presented a seven-day proposal last week to end all hostilities in Iran and Lebanon, unfreeze billions of dollars' worth of Iranian assets, lift sanctions on Iranian oil, and allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that U.S. officials spoke with mediators on Monday, but he did not provide further details.
