US-Iran Tensions Ease, Oil Prices Fall, and Wall Street Stocks Rise
Markets on Wall Street experienced an uptick on Monday as tensions between the United States and Iran eased, leading to a significant drop in oil prices.
Energy-sensitive stocks such as United Airlines and American Airlines saw notable gains, rising by 3.7% and 3.9%, respectively.
Cruise operators Royal Caribbean and Carnival also increased by 2% and 3.1%, but the decline in Brent Crude prices to $88.30 a barrel weighed heavily on energy companies like Occidental Petroleum and Exxon Mobil, whose shares fell by 3.6% and 3%, respectively.
The market had concluded last week on a tense note due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, with investors concerned about potential price pressures ahead of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision scheduled for Wednesday.
