US-Iran Tensions Ebb, Stocks Mixed, Oil Prices Fall
Stocks on Wall Street ended in a mixed performance as tensions between the US and Iran cooled. The S&P 500 closed virtually unchanged, increasing by less than 0.1%, following two consecutive weekly losses.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.5% while the Nasdaq composite declined by 0.2%. Nvidia led the decline in AI chip stocks, dropping 5%.
Crude oil prices also fell due to the decrease in tensions. Brent crude dropped by 6.3%, settling at $85.87 per barrel after reaching a high of $102 last week.
