US-Iran Tensions Spark Global Oil Price Surge
Global crude oil and gasoline prices are surging due to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. The November WTI crude oil (CLX26) is up +2.28 (+2.52%) today, while November RBOB gasoline (RBX26) has increased by +0.1014 (+3.11%).
Despite some bearish signals, such as JPMorgan Chase's report that Middle East crude exports have rebounded to 98% of pre-war levels, the market remains tight due to continued disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
The Houthi rebels' advances along the Red Sea have put Saudi Arabia's oil exports at risk. The country has pivoted to this route over the past two months, but escalating tensions may disrupt shipments. Russia's diesel export ban through October has also contributed to the tightening market.
