US Lawmakers Press Trump to Act Against Chinese Entities Helping Iran
US lawmakers are pressing President Donald Trump to take action against Chinese entities accused of helping Iran through satellite intelligence, weapons components, and oil revenues.
The issue came up during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House on September 24 for a high-level meeting with Trump.
Senate Republican chairman Roger Wicker said that 'press reports were everywhere' about China providing Iran with satellite imagery intelligence that led to the deaths of American soldiers.
Senator Jeanne Shaheen, along with 18 other Democratic senators, accused Trump of failing to hold Xi accountable for alleged support provided to Iran by Chinese companies.
The White House has not publicly said whether Trump confronted Xi over the allegations during their private talks.
