US LNG Exports Surge by 23% in First Six Months of 2026

The US liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry is rapidly expanding, with exports averaging 17.4 billion cubic feet per day in the first six months of 2026, a 23% increase from the same period in 2025.

This significant growth can be attributed to the development of new terminals and expansions of existing ones along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana.

The majority of US LNG exports go to Europe, with countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK, Germany, and Spain being among the top recipients. Asia is another major market for US LNG exports, particularly in light of ongoing disruptions to shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and European imports of Russian natural gas ceasing.

The development of the LNG industry has numerous benefits, including increased business activity during construction, well-paying jobs on an ongoing basis, and support for the natural gas market, which has historically seen low prices. The expansion of the US natural gas market also provides homes, businesses, and manufacturing facilities in Europe and elsewhere with better access to fuels they need.
