US Military Assisted in Transporting 15 Million Barrels Through Hormuz Amid Standoff with Iran
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that over 15 million barrels of oil and petroleum products were transported through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, thanks to assistance from the US military. The total shipments, including those moved via pipelines, approached 20 million barrels.
The seven-day average of oil leaving the Strait had risen above 8 million barrels a day, Wright said in a post on X, crediting the US Navy with maintaining the flow.
However, despite this increase, traders remain concerned that current flows are heavily dependent on military support and could be vulnerable to renewed escalation. The stakes are high due to the Strait of Hormuz being one of the world's most important energy chokepoints.
