US Military Assists 1 Billion Barrels of Crude Oil Through Strait of Hormuz

The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that over 1 billion barrels of crude oil have been shipped through the Strait of Hormuz since they began their blockade. The oil was transported under the protection of CENTCOM forces, which have supported more than 2,000 commercial vessel transits through the strategic waterway.

CENTCOM head Adm. Brad Cooper said that the primary transit lanes in the strait have been cleared of mines and thousands of ships have passed through the waterway. The volume of crude oil, cargo, and liquefied natural gas moving through the strait over the past two weeks was higher than at any point during the previous six months.

The US is working with countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, insurers, and shipping companies to further increase traffic through the waterway. This effort aims to take advantage of the increased volume of oil being transported, making it one of the world's key energy transit routes.
