US Natural Gas Production Poised for Record High in 2026
The US is poised to break its own record for natural gas production in 2026, according to the Energy Information Administration's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook.
US natural gas output averaged 121.3 billion cubic feet per day in the first half of this year, a 4% increase from the same period last year.
The EIA predicts marketed natural gas production will average 122.5 billion cubic feet in 2026, surpassing the previous record of 118.5 billion cubic feet set in 2025.
The Permian Basin and Haynesville are the main contributors to US output, with Permian output projected to climb 6% and Haynesville production expected to increase 9%.
