US Overtakes Qatar as India's Largest LNG Supplier Amid Iran Conflict

India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) import landscape has undergone significant changes due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

The conflict has forced India to diversify its LNG supplies away from traditional sources, with the country's largest supplier no longer being Qatar.

According to data from commodity analytics firm Kpler, the US emerged as India's top LNG supplier in August, shipping 858,500 tonnes of LNG and accounting for around 35% of India's total LNG imports during the month.

Nigeria became the second-largest LNG supplier to India in August, shipping 540,700 tonnes, an 84% increase from the previous month.
