US Probes Suspected Cyber Attacks on Texas-Bound Tankers
US authorities have launched an investigation into suspected cyber attacks on tankers bound for the US Gulf Coast.
The incidents allegedly took place in early August while the vessels were transiting the Strait of Gibraltar between Morocco and Spain.
The US Coast Guard and FBI agents boarded two foreign-flagged vessels, one carrying oil and the other shipping LNG, to examine their systems after indications that their networks had been compromised.
No reports of operational disruptions or environmental impacts have been made public so far, but concerns are rising about potential malicious actors expanding the conflict in the Middle East.
