US Secures Strait of Hormuz for Over 2,000 Vessels Amid Record Oil Movement
US Central Command head Admiral Brad Cooper stated that American forces are maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as an open and secure waterway for commercial shipping. He reported that over one billion barrels of crude oil have transited the strait during the past two months.
The admiral noted that U.S. forces assisted in securing the passage of more than 2,000 commercial vessels through the strait, with primary transit corridors remaining free of mines. The United States is coordinating with regional partners to expand navigation volume across the strait, resulting in record cargo and oil movement.
Cooper emphasized that the United States continues enforcing a strict embargo on Iranian oil exports, with Tehran having not exported a single barrel under current U.S. measures. He also announced plans to establish a new joint unit dedicated to countering offensive unmanned aerial systems as part of a joint drone defense initiative with regional allies.
