US President Donald Trump's administration has already taken initial steps to strengthen ties with Thailand by signing deals on critical minerals and investment. However, this agreement received relatively little attention due to Trump's prominent role in announcing the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement.

The US-Thailand alliance remains durable, with annual Cobra Gold joint military exercises continuing, but security cooperation alone cannot sustain an alliance. Bangkok has signaled its eagerness to advance negotiations with the United States, especially on trade frictions.

One area ripe for consideration is energy cooperation, particularly in liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. As one of the world's leading LNG exporters, the US can help diversify Thailand's energy supplies while strengthening its long-term energy security.
