US Seizes $600M Worth of Iranian Crude Oil Amid Ongoing Sanctions Efforts

A nearly six million barrel shipment of Iranian crude oil, valued at around $600 million, is making its way across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. According to tanker-tracking firm TankerTrackers, this massive transfer is part of a series of seizures made by the US in the Indian Ocean earlier this spring.

The seized cargo includes oil from tankers Majestic X and Tifani, which are sailing towards the port of Galveston, Texas. The Skyview, another vessel carrying Iranian oil, remains in Asian waters after being seized in April while en route to China. The US has stated that naval operations to disrupt sanction-violating networks will continue.

The transfer comes at a time when Iranian crude oil exports have been severely restricted in recent weeks, with no significant shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz bound for China since September 1.
