US Stocks Rebound as Oil Prices Fall and Bond Market Pressure Eases
US stocks rebounded on Thursday after oil prices fell and pressure from the bond market eased. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 346 points, or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 climbed 1.1% to its best day in six weeks.
Falling oil prices helped pull yields lower in the bond market, removing some pressure on stocks. Brent crude oil slid 1% to $104.82 a barrel, down from nearly $110 earlier in the week due to concerns about the war with Iran.
The Federal Reserve raised its main interest rate for the first time in years on Wednesday, but officials also indicated that at least one more increase may be coming this year. The signals sent Wall Street on a roller coaster, initially holding onto gains before sliding sharply and recovering some losses.
