US Stocks Rebound on Eased Oil Prices and Inflation Report
US stocks rebounded on Friday, August 21, 2026, after oil prices eased and an inflation report came in close to economists' expectations.
The S&P 500 climbed 1% and was set to break a four-day losing streak, its longest since June. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 479 points, or 0.9%, while the Nasdaq composite increased by 1.2% as of 10:30 am Eastern time.
The price for a barrel of Brent crude, the international standard, fell 2.5% to $104.93 after reaching near $110 overnight. This decrease took some pressure off inflation, which remains high at 3.4% higher last month than a year earlier.
